Tradition in modernity
Ritual and Order pieces reflect the fact that tastes change over time but fundamentals remain the same. Preferences about wood choice, angles, and finish styles come in and out of fashion while proportions, lasting joinery, and grain direction are constant.
Our collections contain the pieces necessary to furnish a home. Each is built by hand. Where possible all offcuts and scrap are used in smaller furnishings to minimize waste—for ecological not economic reasons and because such practices are the right way to treat a sacred and scarce resource.
Ritual and Order began at night and on weekends in a one car garage in Northern California. In the years since it has moved to Athens, GA, and grown to include a commercial cabinet door business.
